59AT/DX Dodecanese (IOTA EU-001 / Rhodes island, GIA DKS-006)

My activity from San Marino in June 2022 had left its mark and I had a great desire to start another activity directly. I still had a week’s holiday available and was looking for a suitable destination. The time period was already fixed, because due to work, these times always are set well in advance.
After some research, the 59 division Dodecanese seemed an interesting destination. Later it turned out that this destination would probably not have been chosen if more research had been done. In retrospect, however, it was a good thing, otherwise I would have been deprived of some experiences.

1AT/V036 (EU-131) Pellestrina + 1AT/V052 (EU-n/a) Chioggia

created a little video report about my activity from Venetian Region Group. For copyright reasons I was not able to add screenshots of Google Maps made with my smartphone, when being in the QTHs. Anyway: Enjoy it!

1AT/V036 Pellestrina Island (EU-131 Veneto Region Group) on air today!

I am on air today only as 1AT/V036 from Pellestrina Island. Pellestrina belongs to EU-131 Veneto Region Group.

Propagation is almost zero to none up to now. Only 19 contacts so far into 1, 13, 14, 18, 21, 26, 29, 30, 56 and 161 division.

Meanwhile weather is excellent. Big thanks to Emma, my host, which provides electricity and a place in shadow for me.

Hope band is opening soon. I’ll be on air until approximately 1700 UTC.

On the image below you see the 1/2 wave dipol, which is directed to north/south and about 2 meters above sea level.

1AT/V052 Chioggia Island on air

Airing as 1AT/V052 from Chioggia Island. Last activity from this spot took place in 2001.

Though it’s not valid for IOTA (EU-n/a), it is valid for Italian Island Award. Old suffix is VE054, but those VE have been deleted and new suffix is V052.

My IOTA QSLs

On days like these, when You have time for the radio, but the radio is just like zzz, it is a good time to go through the old cards, remembering the “better” times.

Today I took fotos of (probably not all) my IOTA QSL cards. There are QSLs missing, since they are in my DXCCs collector album. I will put them online soon.
